A corpectomy relieves pressure put on the spine due to spinal stenosis. After a small incision is made in the neck, a retractor is used to access the spine. The front part of the spinal cord is removed and bone grafts are used to fill the space. This procedure is performed under imaging guidance to ensure precision while allowing patients to recover faster and experience less trauma. A corpectomy is similar to a discectomy, but more complex since a larger area is being removed.
